Eggs are not only good to eat, when used as face masks, they are good for the skin.

There are many different types of egg face masks that can tighten the skin, reduce the appearance of pores, and leave the skin looking younger and healthier. They are all easy to make and all of the ingredients can be found at a local grocery store.

Egg White Face Mask

For this type of skin treatment all that is needed is an egg white. Take the egg and crack it carefully. Separate the white from the yolk and place the white in a small bowl. The egg white can be whipped, but it is not necessary. Take the egg white and place it all over the face avoiding direct contact with the eyes. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with warm water.

Egg whites are full of nourishing proteins for the skin. As the egg whites dry, it will tighten the skin and provide a temporary face lift. Many people swear by egg white face masks to cure acne and even out skin tone.

Egg White and Lemon Face Mask

This mask combines the benefits of the Egg White Face Mask and the bleaching power of lemon juice. Follow the directions for the egg white face mask, but add one teaspoon of fresh lemon juice. Leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.

Since lemon is a natural lightening agent, it can lighten the skin and help age spots to fade away. Lemons also contain the powerful antioxidant Vitamin C which helps to neutralize free radicals and repair sun damage.

Egg and Yogurt Face Mask

Yogurt contains lactic acid which is a natural alpha-hydroxy. It will help to remove dead skin cells and leave the skin smooth and moisturized. To make the mask, take either the egg white or the egg yolk and mix it with two teaspoons of plain, whole milk yogurt. Try to use organic yogurt if possible.

Egg, Oatmeal, and Honey Face Mask

Oatmeal and honey are both very moisturizing and honey has natural antibiotic properties that can help to fight acne break outs. Take either the egg white or the egg yolk and mix well with one teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of oatmeal that has been ground up in a food processor for a moisturizing skin treatment. The oatmeal will also help to exfoliate the skin. Leave the mixture on for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse well with warm water.

Egg Face Mask With Essential Oils

Try taking any of these egg face masks and adding a few drops of an essential oil. Lavender is very calming and could help with inflammation. Tea Tree Oil fights acne and can help restore balance to the skin. It only takes a few drops of these oils to be beneficial. Never take essential oils internally as they can be toxic.

Cautions

Always test a small part of skin before applying to the whole face to make sure that there won't be a reaction. Never put on a face mask that contains eggs if there is an egg allergy. Always wash the face after the mask with a mild facial cleanser and follow up with a moisturizer that contains a sunscreen to protect the skin from sun damage.
